Educational and Institutional
Insurance Administrators

Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc. (EIIA) was formed in the early 1960s, when a number of United Methodist colleges were unable to obtain property coverage from the commercial insurance market. The United Methodist Church helped the colleges to purchase coverage as a group, thereby generating a sufficient premium for insurance companies to respond. EIIA was incorporated in 1976 as a non-for-profit corporation under the United Methodist Church.

EIIA expanded its services until, today, it offers a full range of insurance coverage including automobile, general liability, special events liability, crime, directors and officers liability, fiduciary liability, pollution/environmental impairment liability, employee health and welfare, long-term disability, life, accidental death and dismemberment and student health and accident.

In 1988, EIIA began providing its services to other church-related colleges and universities. Since 1992 it has provided insurance and risk management protection to Presbyterian colleges that are members of APCU.

EIIA currently provides insurance and risk management to more than 135 institutions in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
